Coaching Training Classes

Coaching is quickly becoming a quintessential, critical tool for organizational change. With increased globalization, especially at the hands of a technology-intensive global marketplace, coaching is a practical, yet highly impactful approach to facilitating productive change in persons, teams, and systems by enabling leaders, managers, and employees to uncover potential that might otherwise go untapped.

Bridging the Gap Coach Training provides practical, research-based training and development services that enable optimal functioning in the workplace and personal life. Traditionally, when companies attempt to implement a coaching culture, they tend to only invest in top executives. Such an approach often breeds a hierarchical system, which can be quite ineffective, as the crux of work systems typically rests with support teams, which have a significant effect on the bottom line.

Thus, therein lies the challenge of developing a thriving coaching culture that assists leaders throughout the rank and file. What’s more is the challenge of doing so within an adequate time frame and a cost-effective budget. Companies sometimes struggle with obtaining practical support tools that can be easily implemented, and therefore, leveraged from the bottom-up.

Through coaching, leaders at all levels learn how to optimize the value of human capital. Coaching clarifies vision, mission, and values, and further stretches the capacity to effectively partner and influence. In changing from old hierarchical to collaborative leadership models, businesses create and cultivate learning organizations, in which coaching has emerged as a viable way to bolster leadership effectiveness.

What will I learn?

When you hear the words “coach” or “coaching”, what comes to mind? For many, these words will bring back memories of participation in sports. The coach was the leader of the team, and his or her role was to guide the team towards success. The term “coaching” is also very appropriate for describing the function of educators. Today’s instructors are encouraged to spend less time lecturing from the chalkboard and more time leading people in discussion and problem solving.

Coaching can be defined as a continuous process of providing people with feedback to enhance, maintain or improve their performance. The coach observes performance, shares knowledge and expertise, and provides encouragement to assist students in reaching continuously higher levels of performance. Coaching enables people to develop their thinking and actions in response to differing situations. The coaching approach encourages learning, growth and teamwork all at the same time.

The overall objective of coaching is to enable individuals and groups of individuals (teams) to broaden, develop and motivate each other to achieve improvement in their performance. Some tips on effective coaching follow.

  • Make sure goals and objectives are clearly defined and reinforced.
  • Provide opportunities for individuals and teams to further develop and improve their skills.
  • Observe and identify ways to enhance both individual and team performance.
  • Provide feedback on individual and team performance. Be specific when giving feedback. Do not just say that something is good or bad.
  • Prepare people for difficult situations or new responsibilities by challenging them and making them leave their comfort zone of learning.
  • Provide a supportive and non-threatening environment. Only allow constructive criticism in the classroom or work place.
  • If it is necessary to provide discipline or sever criticism, it should be done in private.
  • Be supportive, enthusiastic, and positive. The coach’s attitude is a predictor of the attitude of the team.
